Welcome to Foundation!

We are kind, gentle and we always try our best.

In Foundation we learn through a creative and play based approach, which aims to provide a rich, stimulating environment that inspires all children.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to develop knowledge, skills and understanding through the 7 areas of learning. These are Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), Physical Development, Communication and Language, Literacy, Maths, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World.

We use a topic based approach that follows the children's interests. This year our overarching themes are People, Animals and Places. Within that we will do some work on  'Friends and Family,'  'People Who Help Us,' 'At the Farm', and 'Out and About'.

Our Current topic is 'Out and About', this topic will focus on the minibeasts that we can find around us as we go out and about into the garden and woodland areas. During this topic we will be learning to identify, name, sort and describe a variety of different insects and other minibeasts. We will also be learning about different changes minibeasts can undergo as we explore the life cycles of butterflies and frogs. We will be helping the children to think about the impact we have on the lives of these small animals and what we can do to help to look after them and our environment.

Please take a look at some of the things that we have been busy doing:
