Welcome to Foundation!
We are kind, gentle and we always try our best.
In Foundation we learn through a creative and play based approach, which aims to provide a rich, stimulating environment that inspires all children.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to develop knowledge, skills and understanding through the 7 areas of learning. These are Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), Physical Development, Communication and Language, Literacy, Maths, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World.
We use a topic based approach that follows the children's interests. This year our overarching themes are People, Animals and Places. Within that we will do some work on 'Friends and Family,' 'People Who Help Us,' 'At the Farm', and 'Out and About'.
Our Current topic is 'Friends and family' where we will be thinking about the people we live with and our extended families. We will compare similarities and differences between different families and discuss the different things we like to do with our own families. We will also be exploring emotions as we reflect on our own feelings and learn to recognise how others are feeling as we share experiences together and build friendships within our class community.
Please take a look at some of the things that we have been busy doing:
Foundation School Counsellors
The Foundation representatives on the school council for 2020-2021 are Evelyn and Ned.
Classroom Dojo will be used as the main platform for home learning if your child is isolating or there has been a partial or whole school closure. Some resources may need to be uploaded to this class page and we will direct families if needed. Please ensure you login and check Class Dojo every day to access a wide range of cross curricular home learning activities.
