Welcome to Moorland Class
In Moorland Class we look after each other and our environment. We always try our best and persevere when things get a bit tricky. We know that making learning stick takes lots of practice so we keep on trying hard.

Summer 2
How do we stay healthy?
Our learning will focus on healthy living. We will be learning about the importance of exercise and hygiene, how to make healthy salads, and how medicine has changed the world. We will link back to our Jamaica learning when we find out about the achievements of nurse Mary Seacole. As always we are linking our work to as many areas of the curriculum as possible and hope that children will get a lot out of the topic and really enjoy their final half term of the year.
“We had a great time at the Fireground museum. James was really impressed with how much we knew about the Great Fire of London. It was brilliant fun to dress up and ride in a fire engine, and to slide down the pole!”

Home Learning
How can you help your child? Each week the children will bring home:
a new reading book
a book from the school library that they have chosen
a Question of the Week to share with you
some spellings to practise
Remote Learning
Class Dojo will be used as the main platform for remote learning if part or whole school closure is required. Some resources may need to be uploaded to this class page and we will direct families if needed. Please ensure you login and check Class Dojo every day to access a wide range of cross curricular home learning activities.
Our photo gallery
The children told James how people carried water in buckets from the Thames to try and extinguish the Great Fire. James showed us how fire fighters use fire hydrants to access water on the streets where we live. The children are excited to look for their nearest one!
"Emergency! Emergency!"
The children experienced driving a fire engine in this simulator. They collected points for answering questions. Maximum points for these children!
Dressing up was a big hit!
Driving the fire engine was the best bit!
Using the firefighters pole took a bit of practice.
There's not much space behind the driver's wheel.
We had a great time!
We explored shading to add depth and focus to our drawings.
We have been inspired by the art of Kenojuak Ashevak to make our own prints of spirit animals.
We explored the sculpture of Andy Goldsworthy by making our own Land Art using natural resources in collage.
We were inspired to write Ernest Shackleton's diary.
We have been making arrays to explore multiplication, division and fractions.
How to grow a dragon. We did!
