Welcome to Moorland Class
In Moorland Class we look after each other and our environment. We always try our best and persevere when things get a bit tricky. We know that making learning stick takes lots of practice so we keep on trying hard.

Summer 1
Where in the world is Jamaica?
In Geography this half term we will be learning about life in the Caribbean nation of Jamaica. We will llearn to locate it on a global map and talk about how to navigate to it using cardinal directions on a compass. We learn about the climate and what grows there. We will learn to compare Jamaica to Hebden Bridge and use what we learn to pack our imaginary suitcases for an imaginary holiday.
In Science we will investigate what plants need to grow healthily. Year 1 children will learn to name different parts of plants including trees, while Year 2 children will learn about the life cycle of plants.
In Computing Year 1 children will learn to log on and develop mouse skills to create an avatar on Purple Mash. In Year 2 children will be learning to present data as pictogram and interpret data to make comparisons.
“We had a great time at the Fireground museum. James was really impressed with how much we knew about the Great Fire of London. It was brilliant fun to dress up and ride in a fire engine, and to slide down the pole!”

Remote Learning
Class Dojo will be used as the main platform for remote learning if part or whole school closure is required. Our photo gallery
The children told James how people carried water in buckets from the Thames to try and extinguish the Great Fire. James showed us how fire fighters use fire hydrants to access water on the streets where we live. The children are excited to look for their nearest one!
"Emergency! Emergency!"
The children experienced driving a fire engine in this simulator. They collected points for answering questions. Maximum points for these children!
Dressing up was a big hit!
Driving the fire engine was the best bit!
Using the firefighters pole took a bit of practice.
There's not much space behind the driver's wheel.
We had a great time!
